KICK JOHANNESBURG
In this project, I have developed a comprehensive solution aimed at empowering girls through skateboarding, centered around the Kick Johannesburg initiative. This initiative seeks to break down gender barriers and redefine what it means to be a skater in a traditionally male-dominated space. My final solution is presented through a dynamic combination of touchpoints, including a print magazine, stickers, and a skate video, all designed to engage and inspire the target audience.
Kick Johannesburg initiative primarily includes young women and girls in Johannesburg who are passionate about skateboarding or are interested in becoming part of the skateboarding community. This demographic typically ranges from teenagers to young adults, often between the ages of 18 and 25, who are looking for a sense of community and empowerment through active and non-traditional sports.
The initiative also appeals to supporters of gender equality, as it focuses on breaking down barriers in male-dominated spaces and creating inclusive environments. Additionally, the target market extends to local businesses, skate shops, and brands interested in aligning themselves with a movement that promotes diversity, empowerment, and social change within the urban sports culture.
CONCEPT
Kick Johannesburg is a bold initiative that aims to transform the skateboarding landscape in Johannesburg by empowering young women and girls through the sport. The concept revolves around creating an inclusive and supportive community where female skaters are not just participants but are celebrated as equals to their male counterparts. By challenging traditional gender norms and providing platforms for visibility, such as magazines, stickers, and skate videos, Kick Johannesburg seeks to break down barriers that have historically marginalized women in the skateboarding scene.
